Those in the know in the vintage market scene in Provence rate Villeneuve-les-Avignon as one of the top markets in the region. Every Saturday morning, the market across the Rhone river from magnificent Avignon draws the vintage faithful and some of the best area dealers to this gorgeous sleepy village. Whenever Ive gone there I’ve scored big. There are some high end vintage boutiques in the U.S. who I supply with finds from this brocante.
However, if there’s just too much to do in Provence, (and there always is), we can bring the market to you. Or part of it, at least. One of my favorite collaboratrices is Colette. Here she is in her very Frenchy posture in front of her booth with a colleague.
She has been a regular dealer at this market for years. And just for the Le Trip groups Colette opens her house and creates a little mini brocante in her “boutique” next to the pool. We have a lovely French breakfast poolside and then we browse and enjoy our morning coffee in the comfort of Colette’s lovely home. It’s always a highlight as Colette is a big friendly personality. Each time we go half the group wants to buy her antique red china and she always has to humorously decline offers.
I wish I had more pix of her house. Since I had the computer stolen last year lots of pix are lost. If any veteran tour folks have pix of Colette’s please be in touch!
